The Lee county fair in Amboy closed as the most successful ever with about 18 000 people on Thursday and 2 000 autos. Exhibits numbered high, livestock ribbons abundant, schools shows drew attention, and the Amboy track hosted a best ever racing program marred by two horse deaths.
Ashton village board passes ordinance authorizing an 18000 waterworks bond issue and sets October 6 as the election date. The announcement notes Ashton as a thriving village and expects a large victory for the measure. The notice appears in Amboy News and Hart’s Real Estate News with local farm and property ads by Frank S. Hart.
Lucille Love eleventh in the series shown at the Pastime theatre next Wednesday evening September 30. Pictures grow more interesting and crowds improve since the series began. Monday is now comic night and the theatre remains open Saturday nights in addition to Wednesday.

He has grain business experience in Lee county and will handle county finances accurately if elected. He has long been a Democrat and has served on the Democratic county central committee.

The Commonwealth Males Quartette returns to Ashton for the first lecture course event at the High School auditorium. They were a hit last year and remain premier male vocalists with a busy lyceum schedule. Tickets are selling fast with reserved seating available at the Gazette Book Store or the door.
Ashton Township shows high city property value at 141 815 with total farm and personal values pushing near 500 000 when adjusted. Among 22 townships in Lee County Ashton ranks near bottom in land value though personal property places it third overall behind China and Amboy.
