County Fair Sets Attendance Record at Amboy 1914

The Lee county fair in Amboy closed as the most successful ever with about 18 000 people on Thursday and 2 000 autos. Exhibits numbered high, livestock ribbons abundant, schools shows drew attention, and the Amboy track hosted a best ever racing program marred by two horse deaths.

Ashton village oks waterworks bond vote date

Ashton village board passes ordinance authorizing an 18000 waterworks bond issue and sets October 6 as the election date. The announcement notes Ashton as a thriving village and expects a large victory for the measure. The notice appears in Amboy News and Hart’s Real Estate News with local farm and property ads by Frank S. Hart.

Lucille Love Series At Pastime Theatre

Lucille Love eleventh in the series shown at the Pastime theatre next Wednesday evening September 30. Pictures grow more interesting and crowds improve since the series began. Monday is now comic night and the theatre remains open Saturday nights in addition to Wednesday.

Barbers Close Early Each Evening Except Midweek and Saturday

Local shops will close at eight o'clock every night except Wednesday and Saturday. Harry Pierce and Gro H. Vanne ss with Misses Odessy and Esther Durston spent last week visiting relatives in New Windsor and attended a cousin’s wedding.
