Receiver for Electaig Lines Appointed in Insolvency Case
Andrew Aschenbrenner of Bradford was named receiver for the Northern Illinois Electric Railway Company by Judge R S Farrand after a petition by Sherman L Shaw alleged insolvency. The company faces over 200000 in liabilities with 30000 owed in unpaid mortgage interest and other debts. The receiver plans immediate expense cuts and may extend service to Rochelle.

New Garage Completes Expansion for Faust H. Boyd
Faust H. Boyd completes a large garage expansion in Northern Illinois expanding floor space to two and one half times the former. The south adding work room houses machinery for auto repairs while a west door allows entry for cars. The old section serves as storage separated by a fire wall. Office and future stock expansion planned for next year. Boyd enjoys a growing trade from locals and tourists for repairs and service.

Funeral Held for Mrs. Charles Reiss One of Bradford Township’s Eldest
Mrs. Charles Reiss age 65 1 20 died Monday at home southeast of the city after a year of illness. Born Eva Elizabeth Mehlhause in Germany she came to America in 1866 and joined Reynolds Evangelical Church later transferring to the United Evangelical Church. She married Albert Langle and then Charles Reiss with whom she had daughter Martha Magdalena who survives. Also surviving are a brother Justus Mehlhauge and sister Mrs August Klingebeil. Funeral services were held at home and at the United Evangelical church with interment in Ashton cemetery.

The annual township Sunday school convention will take place in this city next Sunday with morning, afternoon and evening services. Rev. R L MacWherter will preach on Winning Souls at the Presbyterian church and The Forces of Successful Sunday School Work in German at the Evangelical church. The 1:30 afternoon session at United Evangelical will divide into four classes and include a round table by A W Rosetrans and an address by Rev MacWherter. Evening at Methodist Episcopal will feature Rev E Ulrich on The Teacher and the Child and Rev G A Walter on This That and the Other. Former Canadian lightweight champion Guy Rogers now based in Kewanee and William Chaubody of Akron helped erect white porcelain Goodrich signs along the Lincoln Highway. Crews placed dozens of signs from Ashton to Marshalltown as part of a coast to coast display. The Goodrich project spans Chicago to New York City, Cheyenne to Chicago, and San Francisco to Cheyenne.
