Ashton Public School Opens Next Monday in New Building
The Ashton Public School building is completed and the first session will be held Monday at nine o clock. Tomorrow afternoon the public is invited to inspect the building from basement to top between one and three. Some finishing work remains but desks and cleaning will be arranged for the start. Over 200 children are proud of the new school in Lee county and no tardies are expected next week.

Miss Ellen and Marjorie Griffith returned home from Cor nal college Iowa for Thanksgiving. Christine Gonnerman and family from Dixon visited the Griffiths with guests from Rochelle. Keystone League of Christian Endeavor held a Thanksgiving social at the United Evangelical church with joyous fellowship. Fred Tadd Jr and family returned from Mel towa visiting Albert Tadd and his mother Mrs S Krug. The Philathea club was entertained by Miss Emma Krug with a kitchen shower and refreshments. Mrs Minnie Krug’s birthday was celebrated with games and a two course luncheon. Mary Krug’s twelfth birthday drew a surprise party with oysters cake and coffee. Will Schafer and sister Mrs Fred Rommann and baby returned home to Garrison Iowa after visiting the Schafer family. Jacob Schafer of Dysart also left.

Sunday Schools in Annual Convention Addresses Very Good
Ashton township Sunday school convention met in the city despite bad weather. Morning sermons at Presbyterian and Evangelical churches were well prepared. Afternoon round-table at United Evangelical sparked ideas on Sunday school work. Evening at Methodist Episcopal drew the largest crowd with talks on teaching and unity. Officers elected: MacWherter president Wagner vice president Moore secretary. L. T. Moore and son Roland bought buggies in Union City and traveled into Ohio.
