Funeral services set Friday afternoon at his home and 2 PM at the Methodist church. He is survived by his wife and son George W. Batchelor along with nephews and nieces. Funeral attendees to include pastor Dr W B Kern with obituary notice to follow.

Armistice Day Observed in Ashton With Impromptu Parade

Stores displayed flags, a parade formed led by drum corps and flag, drawing hundreds of participants and onlookers. Miss Eva Hunt who served with the Red Cross in France for a year arrived home Saturday evening after a visit with her sister in Hamilton Ohio. She came by the steamer Farralibe into New York and enjoyed her return after war service.

Moving Ires Sunday Lecture by Mr Swingle at Pastime Theater

The Pullman Co purchasing head Mr C T Swingle will present a free illustrated lecture on "How God Speaks" with moving Bible passages and songs by Chicago singers. The event runs next Sunday afternoon from 2:30 to 4 p m at the Pastime Theater in Ashton, with all denominations invited.

The missionary and aid societies of the Franklin Grove M E Church will serve supper in the basement on Thursday November 20 from five to seven o clock. Ashton residents invited. Lady Resists Masked Stranger in Village Kidnapping Attempt

Mrs Harold Stevens of Akhtay thwarted a kidnapping attempt Friday evening around 6 o clock in Dixon Telegraph area. A masked man and a woman, seen with a large car, drove off after the woman emerged from behind a tree and joined the man in the vehicle. Police note the incident remains a mystery to residents as the car and its occupants disappeared.
