Lightning strikes Lucky farm barn destroys hogs
A severe electrical storm yesterday afternoon struck and destroyed the large barn on the Lucky farm east of town, consuming 120 hogs. A second fire 18 miles west of town had no details yet. The shop also notes a shipment of 300 new comic postal cards offered at one cent each or ten cents per dozen.

Fast Mail Kills Sheep On Early Morning Run
The fast mail No. 10 struck a flock of 400 owned by A. E. Hutchinson, instantly killing 22 sheep and injuring several others. The shed gate had been secured the night before but was found open Saturday morning. The incident occurred near C. A. Burnham's elevator as the train, due at 5 03 am, hurtled along the track at high speed. Thad Smith of Rockford visited over Sunday.
