Settled in Lee and Ogle Counties 1833 James Quick Dies
James Quick, oldest settler of Lee and Ogle counties, died at 87 years in Ashton. Born in Devonshire England in 1823, he moved to Canada then to Ogle in 1833, lived near Ashton most of his life, worked as a mason and farmer, and served as school trustee and highway commissioner. Interment was in Ashton cemetery. The Ashton Bank notice followed.

The Presbyterian Church will hold its regular quarterly communion next Sabbath at 10 30 a m. The service closes the Ecclesiastical year and welcomes new members to join. Members are urged to attend to support the church and partake in the ceremony.

High School Play Impresses Audience and Choir Encores
A high school play titled Lost A Chaperon drew a packed Friday audience in the school auditorium. The twelve players presented with strong preparation under Miss Wyatt, while the school orchestra led by Miss Eddy earned hearty encores. Proceeds over expenses exceeded 65 dollars. Married: Miss Genevieve S Sweeny of Chana wed Mr Daniel Lee Shottenkirk of Lafayette township at the Dixon Presbyterian parsonage with a brief Chicago trip planned. The community thanks express gratitude for support during bereavement and funeral autos. An evangelistic service at the Methodist church replaces the regular prayer meeting with Rev Fred Graham preaching. 23 joined last Sunday, 12 others to join next Sunday due to weather.

Anna Maria Leimroth died in Minnesota at age 71 and 4 months after living with her daughter Mrs Dora Rubel since her husband Carl Leimroth’s death in 1912. Born October 24 1844 in Langensheim Germany she came to Ashton in 1883 and is survived by a daughter sister and two grandchildren. Interment was in Ashton cemetery. Uncle Sam is Calling You!
