Clifford Knapp’s garage was broken into after midnight Tuesday and Ray Chadwick’s new Ford coupe was stolen. Entry was gained by smashing a rear window and bars were removed from a back door. Tools including an electric valve grinding outfit and a vise were taken. A $100 reward was offered for the car’s return.
The Lee County Y M C A records five Father and Son banquets over three months across Palmyra Amboy Lee Center and Ashton. Attendance totals include 100 96 224 and 700 across all events, highlighting renewed paternal involvement and church support. A separate notice invites I O C F lodge No 977 and families to a Rebekah party on March 17 1922 at the IOOF hall.
The Lee County Farm Bureau offers Dunlap strawberry plants to county boys and girls aged 10 to 20. Plants cost 60c per hundred postpaid or $1.10 for 200, with delivery by mail on payment. Applicants must plant 100 or 200 and report next year’s yield.

The Lee county Road and Bridge committee concluded a lengthy session Saturday approving plans for the 1922 road patrol system. They purchased two 10 ton Holt caterpillar tractors two 12 foot Adams lean ling wheel graders with back slopes attachments seven slipscrapers and multiple patrol graders from named manufacturers. U S Grain Growers, Inc. has 18 000 members in 14 counties and 834 elevators and plans a Chicago sales agency for 1922. Producers Live Stock Commission Association leads 50 firms at East St Louis yards. Stephenson County Milk Marketing Co runs a 30000 plant and handles 850 pounds daily since September. Illinois Fruit Exchange, started after severe freezes, now has 1000 growers in nine counties and aims to capture much of the 1922 southern Illinois fruit crop. The Ladies of Days No 8 of the United Evangelical Church will hold a bakery sale at Dorland's Meat Market on Saturday afternoon March 18 beginning at 1 o'clock.
Ashton Chapter No. 575 announces a regular meeting on Tuesday evening March 21 with work refreshments and a general good time for members.
Voters will cast a large turnout at the Bradford town meeting on Tuesday April 4 with contests for Supervisor and Commissioner. Incumbent Charles Wagner faces Daniel Utz for Highway Commissioner while William Degner and Gonn Mall seek assessor. Town Clerk has Clarence Hart and Henry Wendle candidates. School Trustee contenders are Clarence D Sanders and Harry Schafer.
The Republican Senatorial committee aims to win all General Assembly seats in the district by fielding three Republicans instead of two Republicans and one Democrat. Five candidates contend: A. T. Tourtiflott, John H. Byers, Russell Burleigh, Henry Allen, and A. G. Harris. Burleigh and Allen hail from Whiteside County while the others come from Dixon.
Eighteen members of the Franklin Grove Presbyterian church choir traveled to Ashton Tuesday night and surprised Mr and Mrs John D Charters. They arrived around six and shared a hot supper, creating a very pleasant evening.
