Wedding Bells Ring at Two Ashton Ceremonies
This week two weddings lit Ashton society pages. Ruth Fackler wed Orno J. Kersten in a First Presbyterian church ceremony with Mendelssohn music and a reception at the bride’s home. Ruth Louise Zeller and Rae E. Chadwick wed at the Zeller residence with a double ring service and a three course repast. The couples, both long associated with local life, plan to settle in Ashton after honeymoon trips to Illinois and Wisconsin.

Anagnos Found Not Guilty in Rochelle Ice Book Trial
After a two day Federal Court trial in Freeport Illinois the jury found Mr Anagnos not guilty of violating the revenue act by taxing ice cream and soft drinks sold in summer 1920. The government failed to prove guilt and witnesses described him as a trusted Rochelle businessman who had paid all taxes due.

Franklin Grove Girl Killed In Auto Crash
Miss Marie Oliphant aged 34 daughter of Mr and Mrs Jacob Oliphant of Franklin Grove was killed Saturday evening on the Lincoln Highway east of DeKalb. She was driving a Ford roadster alone en route from Chicago to visit her parents. Speedometer showed 38 mph as she passed two men in a Packard. Authorities believe excessive speed caused a skid and rollover resulting in fatal injuries. Inquest held at DeKalb. funeral and interment followed Cedar Rapids Iowa.

Three Accidents Hit Building Site In One Day
On Thursday three separate accidents occurred at a corncrib under construction for Charles Brown north of town. John Trostle escaped with scratches after staging broke. Adam Strube fell seventeen feet while fastening rafters, breaking his right leg and suffering severe pain. Mark Burnham slipped on the roof. Charles Brown saved him, but Burnham injured a knee and will be sidelined.

Autos Collide Near County Line In Narrow Escape
Mrs Harold Lesslie and passengers escaped serious injury after a collision with a stopped car near Clarence Drummonds gate. Miss Arlene was injured by glass, Mrs Lesslie and others were bruised as the Lesslie car suffered heavy damage. A Gazette and Chicago Tribune bill of $9.00 is noted.

DeKalb to Host 10 Farmers Farm Bureau Centennia l Pageant
DeKalb and adjacent counties organize a large Farm Bureau Centennial Celebration at the Northern Illinois State Normal School grounds on Friday June 30. The event aims to show northern Illinois farming in a grand pageant Forward Farm Bureau with two thousand local participants from thirteen counties and speeches by Governor Preus President J R Howard and Dean Eugene Davenport. More than fifty floats will depict county farm bureau achievements and the gathering promises to educate and impress attendees from across the state.
