A quiet five o'clock wedding at the bride’s parents home in Ashton will unite Miss Amanda Vaupel and Mr. Roy C. Heibenthal in a ring ceremony conducted by Rev. J. G. Eller. Thirty guests attend, with Mendelssohn’s march and a pink white dining room decor. The couple plans a Niagara Falls honeymoon and will be at home after July 20. Both are Ashton's popular graduates active in church and music.

Ashton shows a population of 846, up from 840 last June, in a careful census by O P Canfield who has long conducted the town tally. A table compares school age children with last year. Everett Hayes slipped in a stable accident at R Y Tilton farm, a pitchfork injuring his left hand. he was taken to Rochelle and is back to work. A 12 room house with 11 lots and barn is for sale via Peter Nelson.

Rosecrans Auto Theft Stirs Town After Car Recovered
Harold Heckart linked to the Rosecrans Overland stolen from the barn. A party pursued him to Shaw station, recovered the car, and authorities planned to detain him while Glenn Rosecrans sought release to avoid prosecution.

Ashton Chautauqua a Great Community Success
The Ashton Community Chautauqua concluded a highly successful session despite poor weather opening. About 500 season tickets were pledged for next year in under 15 minutes, with many small subscriptions. A peak attendance of about 1 100 greeted Montanelli's Venetian Quartet as 161 to 200 cars gathered near the grounds. Gate receipts for the Kilties band day reached 226 dollars. Community pride and solid support from Ashton and surrounding towns built a firm financial base for next year.
