Reports from township presidents showed progress. addresses urged temperance work and the value of Sunday schools, stressing moral training and community impact. Officers for the next year were elected including C. C. Hintz as president and Ester Atkinson as secretary, with departmental posts announced.

Death of Rev Theodore Steege in Mendota
The Rev Theodore Steege died at his Mendota residence on Monday June 12 after months of throat consumption. Born September 21 1864 in western Germany he migrated to America in 1884 and later served as Evangelical minister in multiple towns. He moved to Mendota around May 1 for recuperation and is survived by his wife Lena Frederking and two children. Funeral Thursday at 2 pm at the Evangelical church with ministers F F Jordan and Rilling officiating. burial at Restland.

The fourth annual alumni banquet at Ashton high school drew about ninety attendees Friday evening June 17 at the Presbyterian church. Speakers, toasts, and reminiscences filled the program as Fairbrother’s orchestra provided music and officers were elected for the next year.

A fire discovered at 10 45 am burned the Ira Trostle residence near Franklin Grove destroying the brick structure and contents valued at 9000 with 3000 insurance. The Trostle family will live in Franklin Grove during rebuilding. E S Farringer sold The Racket Store to Frank P Eisenberg after 11 years in business. Farringer will relocate, Eisenberg to invoice stock this week.

Movement for county fair at Amboy sparks organized talk
From Amboy Journal the meeting on Friday evening drew several citizens to discuss a county agricultural fair in Amboy. W. L. Leech chairs the effort with Frank Brady as secretary, a committee to canvass for permanent organization and steps if conditions warrant. Members are W. L. Leech S. P. McGee John Burke R. J. McCarty. The group seeks public support and cautious progress toward a successful fair.

Cars crash on electric line injures motorman
John Greve, formerly of this city, was severely injured in a collision on the Sterling Dixon electric line when an air pipe burst. The regular car had picked up a passenger and was followed by a 50 passenger special car under motorman Greve. Brake failure caused by the burst pipe led to the crash. Several passengers on the special were bruised. Greve suffers a crushed right foot and ankle and multiple cuts and is hospitalized.

Car Upset Near Orner Place Ends With Smashed Top
Thursday afternoon W B McCrea and G A Hamel had a mishap while riding north past A J Orner's. A burst front tire caused the car to slide on its side, Hamel ending in the rear seat with McCrea's hat. No serious injuries, car repairs noted. 8 to 3 loss for Ashton High at Steward. George Putman visited Rochelle.
