Memorial exercises at the Washington Grove Christian Church were largely attended Thursday morning. Rev. C. C. Ryan of Spencerville, Ohio, delivered the address. The Lafayette Band provided music while John Charters E S Farringer Rev T E Stevens and Wm Bohart sang. Graves in the cemetery across the road were decorated after services.

Treasury circulars inform Civil War veterans that the 1907 act grants no new bounty beyond prior laws. Only two and three year enlistees denied July 2, 1880 may now receive additional bounty, limited to $100 total. heirs may benefit where applicable.
Soldier bounty refunds and discharge rules described
A Civil War era notice outlines eligibility to repay or adjust advance bounties when a soldier is discharged by promotion or other reasons after two years of service. It excludes navy tailors and requires full soldier name, unit, enlistment and discharge dates, and closest kin details in all communications to the auditor.

Postmaster Chadwick Salary Raised in Illinois District
Postmaster Harlow Chadwick will see a $100 annual salary increase effective July 1 due to rising business at the Ashton office.
