Commencement season events and notes at the high school
The class of 1019 tickets go on sale Thursday morning priced at twenty five cents for commencement. A high school picnic is set for Monday in Lowell Park. Class Night on June fifth features a program led by students and a strong address by Dr. John Godladon. Report cards can be picked up Friday afternoon or during commencement. A Mothers presence is welcomed at the exhibit and a busy week of events includes an art lab tour and choir acts by Roy Faber Mary Myers and others. Methodist and Reynolds church notes list services, youth activities, and camp plans through June and July with a focus on Bible School and Children’s Day.

Eighth Grade Graduation Feted In Lafayette Auditorium
The Lafayette eighth grade class held graduation exercises last week in the town auditorium with a full house. The program featured music from the Lafayette band and soloists Myra Griffith Edwin Orner and a trio Lois Fee Rot Knapp Alice Lake, followed by a class play Too Much of a Good Thing. Mrs Pearl Billings directed girls gowns while John Absher led the Grammar department and received praise for organizing the event.

Reynolds Couple Wed In Rochelle Catholic Rite
A local wedding took place Saturday at eight in the Rochelle Catholic church as Miss Frances Hawthorn daughter of Mr and Mrs Willard F Hawthorn and Mr Leo J Cleary both of Reynolds township were joined in marriage by Rev Father Paul Bourke. The bride wore a blue suit and the groom a blue suit. Attendants were Miss Irene Cleary of Chicago and Mr Martin Dunne of Rockford. The couple plan to settle on the Cleary farm east of town and left for Chicago for their wedding trip.
