Memorial Day Observances Include Veterans Tribute and School Parade
Decoration Day ceremonies in Ashton drew about 1000 attendees with old soldiers, the Lafayette band, and students marching to the cemetery to lay flowers on graves of departed heroes. Rev W A Schutte lauded veterans, Theodore Roosevelt and Grand Army of the Republic in a German address. Washington Grove also honored thirty two fallen heroes with services and cemetery tributes. A legislature bill to require five day pre election school board ticket preparation drew praise from Amboy News. An advertisement for music lessons ends the report.
