Lowden Urges Publicity on Corporations to Restore Confidence

Congressman Frank O. Lowden of Illinois, noted locally in Oregon, urged a publicity bill in the House. He warned one fifth of U S wealth is in corporations and investors rely on rumors and stock quotes, enabling manipulators to depress prices and erase confidence in commerce. He urged ending the war between corporations and the public to prevent a slide toward socialism and urged transparency to preserve private property and market honesty.

Engine failure blocks traffic near town delaying trains

A Chicago and North Western engine failed with injectors stuck, delaying passenger trains and nine trains total. Extra freight 878 stalled east of town early Friday, later moved to tow the disabled train. Passenger Nos 13 and 5 rerouted on the east bound track to bypass. A Dixon marriage license issued to Albert Taddy and Clara Krug, who wed Tuesday at the bride’s home and will reside on a farm south of town. Ott Gazette notes congrats.

The Ashton Band and Orchestra will present a concert and dance at the Opera House Friday evening starting at 8:00. Ashton Man Shy His Cash

G W Sanders of the Grand Detour Plow Works was robbed of about $100 from his room on First street while asleep. The theft occurred Saturday night in the Wallace home. Sanders reported the loss Sunday and friends offered help locating the robber, with police likely to receive further information by night.
