Butler Family Farewell Reception Before Laurens Move

Pulpit Exchange and Revival Services Planned in Ashton Circuit
Rev. G A Walter of United Evangelical will swap pulpits with Rev. H Messersmith of Pierce Illinois next Sunday. Walter will lead the quarterly communion at Pierce. Messersmith preaches at Bradford Sunday morning and in Ashton in English in the afternoon and evening. Bradford revival meetings continue with twenty four souls bowed at the altar. The Reynolds and Ashton Evangelical churches hold the final conference-year meeting starting March 9 at Reynolds with sessions Friday 7:30 p.m. Saturday 2 p.m. Sunday 9:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Reynolds. Ashton Sunday March 9 includes Sunday school and service at 1:30 p.m. Rev W B Rilling presiding elder of Freeport will lead.

Hatchets were passed out for guests to select partners for the evening. Orion Evens and Muriel Fee dressed as George and Martha Washington distributed favors after the grand match. Refreshments of brick ice cream and cake were served, followed by dancing for the remainder of the night.

Burned by Gasoline Iron Explosion at Home
Mrs Alfred E Simister suffered severe burns to arms face and neck when a gasoline line iron exploded shortly after nine o clock while she heated it on a stove. Doctors say she will recover though in great pain and death appeared possible in the sudden accident. Also in town Clifford Knapp received his second load of Ford touring cars this week totaling six cars in the lot. Several new cars were delivered to A J Nick Rev A E Simister and Joseph A. Knapp continues selling and shipping cars as the season opens.
