Surprise Birthday party for Miss Ethel Sloggett
The Winsome Girls of the Presbyterian Sunday school hosted a surprise party for Ethel Sloggett on Saturday afternoon February 19 marking her twelfth birthday. Eighteen guests enjoyed Washington’s birthday and Valentine based games, a red and white themed dining room, mixed biscuits pickles cocoa cake and brick ice cream, and a large decorated birthday cake as candles were blown out. Guests departed with best wishes for Ethel’s happiness. Jubilee Quartet To Night. The fourth number of the entertain ment course will be given this Thursday evening at the High School auditorium by the Old Kentucky Jubilee Quartet. These four male singers bring plantation and camp meeting melodies, including favorites of sentiment of colored people such as Carry Me Back to Old Virginny Nellie Gray Old Kentucky Home and more. They also perform stringed instruments for variety.
