Farmers Mercantile Co Sold to Floyd Schafer
The Farmers Mercantile Co grocery business was sold to Floyd Schafer after a stockholders meeting last week with near unanimous approval. Schafer, who has mercantile experience and has managed the store for nearly a year, takes full charge. The sale marks the last of the B. M. Way stores in the area as Ash ton farmers acquired the business to retain 60 percent of their investment. Schafer invites patrons to remain customers.

Ventler Ford Sedan Stolen From Dixon Front Sunday
Roy A Ventler reported the theft of his Ford sedan from in front of the Family theatre in Dixon. He and Mrs Ventler were moving belongings to their new home and had loaded the car with linen, an 85 piece dinner set, a mirror and other articles before the first performance. Police were notified and alerted surrounding towns, but no word on the car or its contents has been received.

Rev B R Schultze longtime United Evangelical pastor dies
Rev B R Schultze, presiding elder for eight years and pastor of the United Evangelical church at Barrington, died Friday from pneumonia. Born March 1 1871 in North Northfield Cook County he served churches in Assumption Sterling Freeport Shannon Ottawa Highland Park and Barrington. He was 50 years 10 months and 28 days and left a wife Nellie M Schryver and five children. His career included revival efforts and extended service in Ashton and Barrington.
