Charles De Los Crum violinist and Chicago music professor died December 21 1916 at the home of Sara Earle near E San Bernardino Road California. He was born June 20 1858 in Clinton Iowa and aged 58. Survived by widow Mrs GC D Crum and daughter Edna Earle Crum. funeral held December 23 at Draper’s Chapel Ontario.

A wedding of Christina Ludwig and Harry Ebens took place last Wednesday at the bride’s home three miles southwest of Chana. Rev. Fremont McCague officiated using the ring ceremony. Attendants were Guy Ludwig and Grace Ebens. The couple, lifelong residents of the area, received hearty congratulations. Mr and Mrs Fred Harck of Dixon visited family in the city.
John Ferguson Payne, among the area's earliest settlers, died at his home five miles northwest of Ashton after several weeks of pneumonia. Born April 10, 1847 in Terre Haute Indiana, he came to Ogle County in 1819 with his parents and lived nearby. He married Eliza Steele in Dixon on October 2, 1872, and leaves son Charles and wife, plus siblings Chester in Dixon and a late sister. Funeral held at his Washington Grove home then church and burial in Washington Grove cemetery.
