Postmaster H H Chadwick received a set of books Monday to establish a Postal Savings department in the post office. He has no instructions yet and wonders if the government intends to open the system locally or if blanks were shipped by mistake. A department official was to arrive March 4 to start the postal savings department.

Village of Ashton Adopts Snow Clear Sidewalk Ordinance
The Ashton village council adopted Ordinance No 6 Chapter 48 requiring property owners to remove snow or ice from sidewalks within twelve hours of notification. Aimed at keeping walks safe, the measure sets a two dollar daily penalty for noncompliance. Passed February 5, 1912, by President S T Zeller Jr and Clerk H C Nelson.
