Pioneer Oak Park jurist John B Hunt dies at 60
John B Hunt longtime Master in Chancery and law author died Wednesday December 20 at his Oak Park home after pneumonia and lagrippe. Born 1865 in Ogle County he studied at Northwestern and Union College of Law and served in civic groups including the Republican Club and Chicago Bar Association. He leaves a wife Minnie B Sell and two daughters Helen and Florance, plus siblings and mourners attended the Friday service.

Electric Lights Go On In City With Newcomer's Lunch Room First
The Oregon Power Company turned on electric lights in the city Saturday evening with D. H. Newcomer's lunch room as the first illuminated site. The service is satisfactory and further lighting is expected in months. Several other wired locations were connected Tuesday before the snow storm intervened. Miss Glennie Trask of Dixon visited local friends Saturday.

On Friday evening December 22 the Loyal Daughters of the United Evangelical church hosted Miss Elizabeth Killmer for a miscellaneous shower honoring Miss Lillian Schaffer. The parlor was cupid decorated, Nile green and white dining room, red carnations on the table. After grab bag presents the group served a two course luncheon, grape ambrosia cake and wafers. Sophia Hotzel received a gold clock as teacher hostess. The event ended with guests calling Misses Killmer supreme hostesses.

Frank D. Clark, a Rochelle resident, died Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. after a two year battle with cancer of the face. He was born January 29, 1857 in Flagg township, Ogle County, lived in Nebraska before returning to Rochelle in 1900. He leaves a wife Emma Cross, two children Cora Porter and Floyd, two sisters and three brothers, and his funeral is set for Friday at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev. Albertus Perry.

The Inlet drainage matter resumes next week with property owners present to voice objections to assessments. A jury will visit the district to inspect conditions as the plan deepens the outlet to Green river by clearing the rock dam and enlarging openings and laterals. the maximum assessment reaches about 15 dollars per acre, tapering for smaller parcels.

Northwestern makes record run Friday on Chicago Clinton trip
The Chicago & Northwestern ran a 138 mile special from Chicago to Clinton in 2 hours 18 minutes, 20 minutes faster than the fast mail. Engineer Thomas Burns led engine No. 294 with two coaches and the superintendent’s car. Return trips also beat time as train crews guarded crossings to prevent delays.
