Funeral for Pioneer Settler Anna Ewald Held in Reynolds Township

Large gathering of relatives and friends attended the funeral of Mrs. Anna Martha Beck Ewald wife of Henry Ewald Sr born February 7, 1838 in Saxony Germany died December 20 1919 at her son William’s home age 81 years 10 months 1 day. She leaves five sons and one daughter, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Interment in Reynolds Cemetery on December 22 conducted by Rev F W Doede with pallbearers and church friends in attendance.

Holiday Vacation At Local High School Ends Soon

The high school closes for the holiday with students and staff enjoying Christmas and New Year spirit. A program for parents, assemblies, and readings occurred as Lucile Randall visited, and plans include a January 28 lecture by Charles Howard Plattenberg.

Mrs. Charles Krug Dies in Laurens Iowa

Mrs. Charles Krug of Laurens Iowa died December 14 at age a number of years after moving there twenty years ago. She was sister to Charles Schafer and is mourned by John William G and Au Kersten relations. Funeral and interment were held in Laurens, with details published in The Laurens Sun.

Christmas Program At Reynolds Church Derailed Cars

A Reynolds church Sunday school program for December 25 ran into trouble when nine cars derailed in the local railroad yards at 10 50 p m causing a temporary eastbound track closure. The wreck required a steam wrecker to lift cars back onto the rails with corn and scrap iron cargoes undamaged. Track repair crews worked into Sunday restoring service.

Washington Grove Protracted Meeting at Christian Church

A protracted meeting begins next Sunday at the Washington Grove Christian church and will continue as long as needed. Each evening at seven o'clock services start promptly. St John’s Lutheran Church announces Christmas Day services with a German language morning service and a 10 30 preparatory and common service. Evening features a Sunday school program of carols dialogues and recitations. Next Sunday includes 19 330 o clock Sunday school and Bible class and 10 50 German Divine services.

Nelson Butler Wedding Unites Bradford Farmer and City Bride

Mr Harry FE Butler of Bradford township and Miss Matilda Ma Nelson of this city married at the Methodist parsonage on Wednesday December 8 at 10 o clock. They left for a brief honeymoon to Laurens Iowa and will start farming next year. Dr W B Kern performed the ceremony.

Reynolds Church News Christmas Program and Schedules

The Xmas program will be given at the church December 25 at 7 00 p m with offering for orphans. Next Sunday Bible school at 9 30 a m, preaching at 10 09 p m. A service at 7 00 p m and preaching at 8 00 p m. In Ashton preaching at 2 00 and 1 p m. F W Doode, Pastor.

Illinois Adopts Revised Automobile Laws

Illinois enacts sweeping changes to motor vehicle rules effective January. Uniform right of way applies at intersections with vehicles from the right having priority. Speed limits set 15 mph in dense districts 20 mph in lighter districts and 30 mph on open country roads with violations prosecutable. Continued on Page 8.
