Mrs Hattie Thomas Crotts born 1875 in Nebraska married H C Crotts November 27 1898 in Washington Kansas. They moved to Illinois near Ashton where they’ve lived since. Two children and her husband survive her after her death.

Funeral Held for Beloved Neighbor Mrs Crofts
Remains of Mrs Crofts were interred in Ashton Cemetery after a funeral at the home on Wednesday August 21. Two brothers and one sister, all in the far west, could not attend. The community recalls her as a cherished friend and neighbor.

Destruction in Path of Cyclone Strikes Dysart Iowa
A 1907 Dysart Iowa cyclone wrecked farms in Clark township injuring none of the residents and causing about 15000 dollars in losses. The storm destroyed barns granaries and outbuildings at Seebach Messer and Gonnerman farms and left two daughters miraculously alive in a milk house as the family escaped. No human fatalities were reported. The town records fear the event will linger in memory for months.

Funeral for Henry Gross noted longtime township assessor
Henry Gross 41 of Ashton died at home after a long illness. Born February 28 1866 in China Township he lived on the Bradford farm before moving to town four years ago. He served as assessor for Ashton and Bradford Townships and was active in the United Evangelical Church and Sunday school. He married Elizabeth Kersten in 1887, she died in 1900, and he married Anna Seebach later that year. survived by his wife daughter and siblings, funeral today at 9:30 am at the house and 10:30 am at the United Evangelical Church with interment in Bradford Cemetery.
