Moonshine Still Found On Island in Rock River Raid
Sheriff Schoenholtz and deputies uncovered a large moonshine operation on an island in Rock River near Buckaloo farm Nelson township. They found a double still with cooling system and nine barrels of mash buried on the island and north bank. Mrs Warren George was arrested and held to the September grand jury. her husband is being sought.

Gollmar Bros Circus Arrives in Rochelle Aug 28
The Gollmar Brothers Circus rolls into Rochelle on Monday August 28 in three long trains of steel cars. The big show features three rings two stages aerial conclave hippodrome two hundred eighty four artists seven hundred people with the troupe and over five hundred animals. The tent city covers eleven acres and seats 7000 under the portable grandstand. A two mile street parade displays all cages and dens with elephants among the highlights.

Tragic Crash Near Hess Corners Kills Woman and Two Babies
A Sunday 3:30 a.m. collision near Hess Corners west of Dixon killed Mrs. Mike Kudryk and two infants Rosemary and Helen Dudzik. The two families traveling from East Moline to Chicago were in two autos. a Ford hit a telephone pole after a passing car failed to dim its headlights. Mrs Kudryk died at 7:30 p.m. and the infants at 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The parents were seriously hurt. Elizabeth Hass aided at the scene. The other car fled.
