Aarren Sanders is accused of killing his wife and her mother at the Northwestern Depot. Investigators say the double homicide occurred in the depot area, prompting a manhunt and courtroom proceedings.
A quarrel on the depot platform over the custody of Naoma sparked a violent struggle. Women resisted Sanders as he attempts to take the girl, leading to a tragic scene witnessed by the murderer's daughter.
Sanders shot and killed his wife Mrs. Westanna Sanders and mother-in-law Mrs. George E. Griffith at the Northwestern depot after plotting the crime. He then surrendered to Deputy Sheriff Phillips at the scene and was jailed in Lee County. Coroner’s jury to hear testimony. motive traced to long-running family trouble.
Frances Eva Ruth Stephan married Guy C Taylor at the bride’s parents home in Chicago. Only immediate relatives attended due to illness of Taylor’s daughter, with Edna Phan as bridesmaid and Curtis Light as best man. The ceremony was by Rev Alexander English, followed by a three course dinner.

Several residents improved health, visited relatives, or attended events including a trip to Grand Detour, Dixon, and Rochelle. The Barrington camp meeting featured a quartet and a September 1 organ recital at the Lutheran church with Prof O Hardwig directing.
Amboy prepares for September 17 to 20 Lee County Fair with a half mile track noted as the best in northern Illinois. The course features six foot banked turns, thorough drainage, a new three and a half foot fence, 12 inch wheel board, and a modern amphitheater. New judges, starters stands and multiple barns promise a large crowd as Oregon and Sterling fairs end.
