Passing of an Old Settler Levi Drummond Dies at 75
Levi Drummond one of the oldest settlers of this section died at Chana Monday morning. Born near Columbus Ohio March 15 1832 he was past 75 years of age. He came to Ogle County in 1838 and married Rachel Taylor on June 24 1857 who survives him. Four of their five sons died earlier leaving John as the only survivor. Funeral held Tuesday at two from the Washington Grove Christian Church conducted by Rev G A Brown with Rev Fremont McCague assisting. Remains laid to rest in the Washington Grove Cemetery.

A J Bunzey a former Northwestern telegraph operator from Manlius Bureau County has deserted his wife and two children and run away to Colorado with a woman named Highmiller. The mother remains in Ashton facing privation as Bunzey urges sale of household goods and Manlius lots. He travels via Omaha, leaving only an Oliver typewriter, while the pair pursue plans in Denver.

Golden wedding anniversary celebrated at Meister home
Eighty five neighbors relatives and friends gathered at Mr and Mrs Conrad Meisters four miles south of town to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Rev Stauffenberg delivered a brief address. The couple married July 26 1857 and have lived on the Bradford township homestead most of their married life.

Traveller May Be Named Rockford Presiding Elder
Dr A D Traveller, presiding elder of the Dixon district, is widely expected to be chosen as presiding elder of the Rockford district. He has taken residence with his son near Cherry Valley and would work from that farm if appointed. Earlier, he served as a district presiding elder in Minnesota and is highly regarded in the Rock River conference. Bates and Hunter firm starts railroad job work, currently upgrading a sewer and laying larger pipe at Second Street on railroad property.
