Barn Raising At Kersten Home Draws 125 Guests
Monday afternoon over 125 people gathered at Henry Kersten’s home to witness the large barn raising. A bountiful supper was served around 5 30 pm. In the evening the young folks enjoyed music and games. Refreshments at 11 30 pm closed a royal entertainment.

Round house planned for Fulton area by C. N. W. Railway
Surveyors began work on a new round house between East Clinton and Fulton as the Iowa and Galena divisions of the C N W move the freight terminus to the Illinois side. The facility will have 665 stalls and 35 miles of switch tracks with future expansion. Officials say work starts immediately and aims to finish by fall to avoid last winter’s congestion. Clinton remains passenger terminal for both divisions for now.

Last week Mrs. Cora Payne resigned as Primary department teacher. After the board accepted the resignation, Miss Lena Bode was engaged to teach the remainder of the year. Mrs. Payne plans to leave soon due to her daughter Lillian’s health. Miss Bode began duties Monday morning and is said to be well qualified for the position.

Surprise Tinware Gift For Gonnerman Anniversary
The friends and neighbors of Mr and Mrs Fred Gonnerman held a surprise party last week Tuesday evening for their tenth wedding anniversary. About thirty five were present and they were given various tin ware items as gifts. Refreshments were served at eleven. Ada Trostle of Franklin Grove visited the home of her sister Mrs George Stephan yesterday.

Golden wedding anniversary at Ashton celebrates 50 years
Mr and Mrs Robert Knapp marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a Saturday evening gathering of about sixty relatives and friends. The couple married April 23 1860 in Prescott Ontario and moved to Ashton in 1877. Twelve children and twenty four grandchildren bless the family. Attendees from Ute Iowa Sioux City and Dixon shared in gifts of gold coins china and silverware acknowledging a lifetime in Ashton.

Death of Theresa McNeal Former Resident of Rochelle
Theresa McNeal died April 9 1910 at her Fairmont Nebraska home after months of illness from a paralytic stroke. Born December 31 1849 near Franklin Grove she lived in Missouri then Rochelle and Ashton before settling in Fairmont. She leaves an adopted daughter and is survived by cousins and friends in Franklin Grove and Ashton.

Tragic Toy Accident Claims Three Year Old Life
A three year old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Crawford of Franklin Grove, died after his clothing caught in a gasoline engine. He lived about two hours after the Friday afternoon accident, with skull and back injuries. Funeral Sunday at the house and at the Methodist church.
