William Elijah Yocum of Lee county Illinois died March 26 1914 at his home north of Franklin Grove aged 62 years 5 months and 24 days after a paralysis onset earlier that day He was born October 2 1851 in Bloomsburg Pennsylvania moved to Illinois in 1877 near Compton and later farmed at Kersten farm He married Hattie E McEra in 1890 and leaves wife four children Clarence Florence Ruth Fannie two brothers and a sister Funeral services were held at the Yocum home March 28 and at Berg church near Compton with burial nearby.

Farmers Telephone to Install New Switchboard and Underground Lines
The Farmers Telephone company plans spring and summer upgrades in Ashton including a new 300-line switchboard, underground cables along Main Street, and pole removal.
