Rioting at the Catholic Fair Stirs City Scene
A drunken man named Mike Brennan caused a major disturbance at the Opera House last week. Police and citizens clashed with his supporters, a fire alarm stirred a stampede, and Brennan later surrendered, fined $15 and jailed six days. Fire brigade officers were elected at a later meeting.

Fire destroys Rathburn flooring mill with heavy loss
Early morning fire at G. W. Rathburn flooring mill near Conneaut destroys building and machinery. About 2,500 bushels of wheat stored there burned. Loss estimated at 6 000 with no insurance. Owner Mr Rathburn was at work inside until late. cause under guess. Local crops and peach crop values noted.
