The Arbitration Court in Wellington dismissed Henry Wilcox’s claim for 300 pounds alleging his dilatation of the heart was caused by work at Otaki Sanatorium. The September ruling found no proven link between his illness and hospital work.
Industrial unions gain a judgment of interest today. Dr McArthur 3.M. delivered that the Drivers' Union wished £10 from Donald Fraser as the fine imposed during the bakers strike. Fraser worked in a bake house despite a union resolution, and the magistrate ruled for the union.
In Christchurch a silver cup for scientific boxing was awarded at the Australasian championships. Brisbane officials announced by cable that W. Wilcott of New Zealand won the featherweight title, judged best display by the referee and judges.
Napier September 24 A young man named Hinest Gaarga Mason was found guilty yesterday of committing an unnatural offense at Woodville and sentenced to fourteen years' imprisonment.
In the Divorce Court on September 24, Mr Tystice Chapman granted decrees nisi in Hundleby v Hundleby for desertion and Abbott v Abbott, and Misecell for adultery. Costs were awarded against the co respondent in the latter suit on the lower scale. Sediee
In Gisborne the libel suit by hotelkeeper Joseph Burke against the Gisborne Times concluded with the jury finding for the newspaper. The verdict cleared the paper of defaming Burke over a so called lambing-down incident at Burke’s hotel, Record Reign. Costs are expected to run about £70.
Herbert Thornton, while out shooting with a red kangaroo dog near Nimitybelle New South Wales last week, hid to watch rabbits as a woman nearby fired at what she thought was a fox hitting the arm and wrist. The bullet pierced to the bone and he was treated at Cooma Hospital.
