The Rev. J. Kinross D D professor of English at St. Andrews College and ex moderator of the Presbyterian Assembly is dead at seventy five Born Ardach Scotland in 1838 he arrived in Australia in 1958 He led St Andrews College Sydney from 1875 to 1900 and later taught English language literature and ethics General Nodza of Russo Japanese war fame is dead in Tokyo on October 18.

Death of Dr Coughtrey A Noted Dunedin Physician
Dr Coughtrey a renowned Dunedin medical practitioner died after a nine day illness from heart trouble. An Edinburgh University graduate, he arrived in 1875 and became Professor of Anatomy at Otago University before private practice. He served as surgeon-major in the Defence Forces and led local affairs including the Drainage Board and Otago Rugby Union presidency from 1887 to 1890. He later served as gaol surgeon after Dr Burns’s death.
