Synod Proceedings Convene in Asbury Park Meeting
The eighty eighth annual meeting of the Synod of the Reformed Church in America met in Asbury Park with about 150 attending. Officers named include President Rev Dr E Colyer and Vice President Dr Austin Scott. sermons and reports followed the roll call. A proposed federal union with the Reformed Churches in America held to a close vote, and next year’s meeting is tentatively set for Grand Rapids Michigan.

Presbyterian Church Opens in Asbury Park with Sermon by Dr Liggett
Last week the main building of the new Presbyterian Church was placed and the congregation worshiped there for the first time. Rev Dr John A Liggett of Rahway delivered both morning and evening sermons. The service honored the memory of Rev Dr Frank Chandler with floral tributes. Assistants included Rev Dr E H Stokes and Rev Howard Widdemer. The choir, enhanced by A C Atkins and others, performed Te Deum and the quartet Consider the Lilies. Liggett’s evening sermon was titled Search the Scriptures.

Michael Barrett Neptune City beer peddler saw his bogey with a broken wheel near Sunset Lake after a collision with a wagon while driving toward Asbury Park from Long Branch. Barret’s license renewal was denied by Monmouth Courts. The horse ran to Sunset Avenue before collapsing. Morgan Hulse safe-reattached the horse, later taken by Barrett’s driver without thanks.
