Hodnett and others, alleging threats and attempted forcible possession of eight Elberon residences valued at about 250000. Hodnett and Fay allegedly ordered a watchman to surrender keys and urged break in, prompting McKenna to eject them. the court granted the order and warned the defendants to show cause.

Authorities in Spring Lake have set a $1,000 reward for the incendiary who burned the Sussex. Philadelphia fire underwriters will add $500 for the arrest and conviction of the arsonist. Mrs Urie, owner of the Sussex, expects the reward to rise by at least $100. Estimated loss from the fire runs to about $22,000.

Joseph M Emanuel Laid to Rest in Public Service Loss
Joseph M. Emanuel of Long Branch died suddenly last Sunday. Last rites were performed at Cypress Hill cemetery in New York after a funeral in Long Branch on Tuesday. He was a well known public spirited man involved in many public works, and his death is a timely loss to the town. Tonight a euchre party in Winckler Hall will raise funds for the Isolation Hospital followed by a reading of news to guide guests home, and everyone will read the JOURNAL.
