Local outlet advertises a closing out sale on canned fruits vegetables and staples. Includes plums cherries pears apricots pineapple roots corn tomatoes raisins prunes and table butter with various Noble and Victor brands offered at reduced prices. Sale closes December 10.
Neptune Fire Company launches Neptune's Fair on Monday night at the new engine house on Asbury Avenue. The goal is to raise $1,000 for equipment and furnishings. The event features booths managed by local residents, voting contests, prizes for popular locals, and a shooting gallery. Local merchants and out of town firms contribute cash and goods, with about $200 already received.
The Asbury Park Wheelmen planned a bowling contest between club members. Fifteen game scores were to be compiled and teams chosen by averages. No games have been bowled yet, but the contest is expected to start after the holidays.
At a Newark caucus eight of eleven Assemblymen elect from Essex County voted to back Camden’s William J Bradley for Speaker of the House and William J Sewell for United States Senator. The Tintern Manor Water Company sent 250 Italian laborers to Deal on Thanksgiving to lay half a mile of pipe in Ocean avenue despite Deal Borough Council refusing a franchise. Officials retain Counselor Samuel A. Patterson to protect rights as pipes connect to Deal’s water supply. The dispute hinges on historic franchises from Long Branch and a 1878 grant for Ocean township.
A communication from H. P. Baldwin of the Central Railroad of New Jersey says no progress on the theater trap today and promises advice soon. The Journal’s push to have the theater train run to Asbury Park seems likely to succeed, reflecting growing hope in the matter.
