Not-So-Easy Rider Involved In Front-Wheel Collision

Thomas E. Holstein, age 69, and Mark A. Evans, 36, were charged in a scheme that defrauded East Bay investors of 173500 by soliciting loans for a fraudulent townhouse project and promising high returns. Holstein pleaded no contest to 18 counts of grand theft and awaits sentencing on December 10. Evans was found guilty on 14 counts. Holstein is from Alameda and Evans from Orinda. both held in Vacaville for 90 days of psychiatric observation prior to sentencing.
