Rug's UN unveiling aided by FBI and guild members
Mrs. Sheridan Shirley, chair, oversaw a needlepoint rug project for the United Nations in New York aided by FBI assistance and a large Alabama contingent. The 16 by 12 foot work, finished by volunteers from 35 states, was presented to UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim as the first gift from a non-state source, with a film shown in San Francisco and plans for Alabama state seal pieces.
