Fremont school employes seek mediation in pay dispute
Fremont school district and union negotiators agreed Wednesday night to seek state mediation after eight hours of talks failed to settle the wage and fringe benefits dispute involving 69 workers. A three day strike last week preceded the talks at the Fremont Inn. The district offered a $420 pay hike pro rated for part time workers with phased fringe benefits and a salary survey to be implemented in 1977-78. Union leaders pushed for earlier action and had dropped some demands. Joe Jackson of CSEA said the district stood firm on the $420 offer and workers want an early settlement outside mediation.
