FDA recalls involve peppers pudding juice and pie filling
The FDA announced recalls of Rio Grande whole green chiles in sauce cans and green chile chunks in 2 3 ounce cans from San Juanito Chile Products Co of San Miguel NM due to acidity control failures. Also 2552 cans of sweetened grapefruit juice from Sunkist Growers Inc distributed in CO MD AR SD were recalled for swollen cans. A butter scotch packing and pie filling recall affects five brands from First Foods Co.

No changes planned for food stamps through 1977
The Agriculture Department said no changes to food stamp prices or income eligibility will occur through the first half of 1977. For a four member family the income limit remains $535 monthly, with a $165 monthly stamp allotment. A family of four with net income at $100 would pay $25 cash for $165 in stamps. a $449 net income would pay $131 cash for a $165 allotment plus a $35 bonus. Enrollment was about 7.2 million, down from 7.8 million the prior year, with record use at 19.2 million in April 1975. Eligibility ceilings range from $45 for one person to $999 for eight, with allotments $50 to $928.
