Green Bay signs veteran quarterback Randy Johnson from a Redskins stint about 10 days ago. He will back up Carlos Brown, who starts with Lynn Dickey out for the season with a shoulder injury. Johnson is a ten year NFL veteran.
Detroit Lions shift to rookie John Woodcock of Hawaii and Washington High to fill in for veteran Larry Hand who will miss the season with knee surgery. Regular middle linebacker Jim Lastavic and backup Edge are doubtful for Sunday. Garth Ten Mapel will move to the middle. Fullback Horace King and tackle Jim Yihan are uncertain with muscle and ankle injuries respectively, while Lavi Johnson fronts the line with a cracked ankle risk.
