Policemen Back On Beats In Chicago To Bolster Community Relations
Chicago officers James Scannell and Frank Alfiere patrol the Near North Side on foot with portable two way radios as part of a renewed sidewalk beat program. The initiative aims to restore trust by making cops visible and accessible, following a long gap since 1960. The pair visit Rush Street night spots and local streets, engaging residents and checking identifications while stressing they are familiar faces in the community.
