General Ridgway backs Carter firing of South Korea chief

Pittsburgh UP Gen Ridgway, former Korean War commander, says Carter acted entirely within his rights in firing Maj Gen John Singlaub over the South Korea force withdrawal policy. Ridgway notes phase-out dates stretch back to Nixon era, with South Korea to be equipped as troops depart. He has no view on the secret negotiations, living retired in Fox Chapel.
