Leaking tank prompts firm to give away water
A 100000 gallon industrial water tank at Ethyl Corporation’s Vig queen plastics plant in Fremont sprang a major leak. Water drained at about 15 gallons per minute, with trucks from Fremont Newark and a farm supply firm delivering water to fill city and private tanks. The water is non potable and offered only in full truckloads for irrigation or washing exteriors, as crews work to repair the pipe and refill the tank for fire protection.
