Dr Crane Advises on Marriage and Age Gaps

In a reader case Lester G. seeks Dr George W Crane’s view on marrying a 29 year old woman with a six year age difference. The doctor argues age is less vital than compatibility and interest, notes longevity and modern health advances, rejects the notion of waning erotic interest by age 40, and encourages sending for a booklet on preventing painful marriage with a stamped return envelope and fee.

Iron Link Between Indians and Early Europe Found at Cape Alava

An iron tool unearthed from a Makah house at Cape Alava in Neah Bay Washington is cited as evidence of pre Columbus contact between West Coast tribes and the Old World. Archaeologists from Washington State University describe the hand sized iron piece still attached to its wooden handle, likely a cutting tool, found in a buried house among thousands of artifacts. The site, buried by landslides over centuries, includes five more buildings. The iron may have arrived from Asia via possible routes across the Bering Strait or Pacific, with references to Japanese sailors once rescued by the Hudsons Bay Company on Vancouver Island as contextual support. A carved comb with an Oriental like symbol was also found. The team notes iron use was rare, with stone tools predominating, and the handle measures about six inches.
