60000 Refugees Head For Guam Amid Vietnam Evacuations
The final 60000 refugees from South Vietnam steamed toward Guam on a mixed fleet of U.S. naval and civilian ships. About 11000 had already been flown to destinations in the United States to ease crowding, as evacuees arrived at Eglin and other bases. A Vietnamese woman at Eglin feared losing contact with her American husband, crying that she had lost her country and her parents.
