Ten round LERA Peninsula chess results and players
The tenth annual LERA peninsula championships drew about 200 players to Lockheed auditorium April 12 43. The six division USCF rated Swiss event was directed by Ted and Ruby Yudacynski. Complete results list many named players including Stephen Komber Huhnert Park 41 4274 Ind 4h William Hills San Francisco Peter Clepharn Berkeley Hare Ty Hadke San Jose and Dennis Fintanger Berkeley. Other results mention Judah Ash Brooklyn and two strong Lone Pine entries with grandmasters and international masters. Two active games from the tournament are recorded in descriptive notation with players Dan Burkhard Peter Cleghorn and Ale Frantz Pamela Ford in Sunnyvale. The Lone Pine section highlights a star-studded field of 22 international grandmasters and 10 international masters with overall results showing Vladimir Liberzon Borst and Larry Evans near the top with multiple notable players from the U.S. and abroad.
