Gas price hike warned by emergency official in Senate hearing

Washington moves toward gas rationing by categories as shortage pushes higher prices. Director George A. Lincoln of the Office of Emergency Preparedness tells the Senate Interior and Insular Affairs Committee that near term gas curtailments are possible and price increases could spur production. He cites policy options including higher well head prices, tax incentives, synthetic gas, and greater imports while noting ongoing government analysis and no formal recommendations yet.
