In Sacramento a new healthcare group announces it will back candidates who run responsible health policy. Chairman Campbell says the group believes legislators must be able to implement informed health decisions and work with professionally trained health care teams.

Union City announces free cancer detection and female health exams at the Souther Alameda County Economic Opportunity Agency Family Planning Center 820 E St starting next week on the first and third Mondays at 6 30 pm. Services include pelvic and breast exams urine and tuberculosis tests pap smears and blood pressure readings. The program targets women with financial or transportation barriers and language difficulties. Funded by a grant from the American Cancer Society. Director Nell Randall notes uterine cancer is common among Mexican origin women. Examinations led by a nurse practitioner with Dr Nicholas Teth as medical adviser. A city program sponsored by the department of recreation and leisure services offers seventh to ninth graders a series of trips during Easter week from March 2 to April 1. Destinations include Death Valley National Monument Samuel P Taylor and San Mateo Beach State Parks with service projects camping and campfire programs.
