Top and Bottom Ten in the 1976-77 MVAL sports season
A compact review ranks Washington High as baseball and overall standout, Irvington High dominates both varsity and junior varsity titles, and seven MVAL athletes reached the State Track and Field Championships at UCLA. The piece notes sharp improvements in girls track, Irvington girls softball, and strong Washington basketball near-state finals, plus standout multi-sport performers Ken Stange and Mike Ricapito. It also critiques wrestling programs, funding issues in Fremont USD, and calls for changes in athletic administration and support.
