Bay Area salt ponds under enhanced regulatory control
Sacramento reports a bill extending Bay Conservation and Development Commission authority to include salt ponds and marshlands around the bay. The measure would regulate fill projects along the shoreline from 100 to 1,000 feet and preserve nearby private property while expanding state oversight. Governor Reagan signaled support if six criteria are met, though his stance on shoreline control remains undecided.
