Sailboat seized by Cubans after MIG attack near Florida
Key West reports a 46 foot sailboat Musica seized by Cuban forces after MIG jets fired on it in or near Cuban waters. Captain Donald Raidt and four crew members escaped detention with papers in order. Two detained men identified as Orlando residents Hanst and Hradbeer faced charges for firing on a Cuban fishing boat from Sea Nation. Two unidentified Cuban American fishermen from Miami remained in an immigration building with limited movement. The Musica crew, repairing in Key West Coast Guard base, included Susan McCarthy 16, Gil Hoth 20, Robert Skafte 22, and Terry Kohrs 24. The vessel left Marathon bound for California when intercepted after a flagless fishing craft warned them, followed by camouflaged MIGs and a Cuban insignia MIG. The incident occurred 32 miles offshore according to Raidt.
