Duffy Pursues Rescission of Reagan Medi-Cal Cuts in California
Republican Assemblyman Gordon W. Duffy won early House approval for a hearing on a bill to restore select Medi-Cal services for foster and crippled children and some mentally ill adults. The measure, drawn from a bipartisan committee, would offset costs by state funding for shifts in county tax rolls this year. Burton’s Democratic effort to restore all services failed, boosting Duffy's chances by targeting only the most harmful cutbacks while preserving Reagan administration savings.
